Promise Keepers Registration

Today I registered for this year's Promise Keepers conference.

This year's theme is "The Awakening".

"...it's time to 'awaken' to how God wants to use you to be a greater blessing in your life...at home...at work...or at your church."

I have been to two conferences in the past and they were both awesome events! I highly recommend this event and encourage men to sign up for this year's Promise Keepers conference in Fayetteville, AR on June 10-11.

Today was the last day to save $20 off the registration price, but its still not too late to register.

CrossWalk YAMs Nossaman Party

The CrossWalk Young Adult Married ( YAMs ) group had a party at Rob and Sherrie Nossaman's house.

We had a great time of food, games, and fellowship. We played a game based off "The Newlywed Game" and realized how much ( or little ) we really know about our spouse. After that, the guys and the girls split up to play a really neat movie trivia DVD game. The guys and girls tied... so, as far as I know, there were no hard feelings or anybody sleeping on the couch.

I think I speak for everyone when I express my deepest thanks to the Nossamans and the Berrys for putting this party together.

Granny Skelton's 90th Birthday!

Andrea and I drove up to Columbia, TN last Friday to celebrate Granny Skelton's 90th birthday.

Granny was in great spirits this weekend. She had a great appetite ( especially for her red velvet birthday cake ) and her memory appeared to get better as the weekend progressed.

Granny has greatly impacted the lives of many individuals ( many more than is captured in the above picture ). Granny has left a great legacy. She has passed the Love of the Lord on to her children, grandchildren, and great grand children. That is that greatest gift one can give.

2nd Prenatal Visit

Our baby is now 12 weeks old!

We had our second prenatal visit to the doctor and all appears well. Our baby has hit the 2-inch mark ( about the size of a lime ) and weighs about half an ounce.

The most exciting part of the visit was when we heard our baby's heartbeat! Swisshh swissh swisshh swisshh...

I hope to get a digital recording the next time we have an appointment.

Software Engineering Lecture

I was a guest speaker for my first college level lecture to Dana Steil's Software Engineering class at Harding University.

The class has been reading The Mythical Man-Month by Frederick Brooks. The book is classic composition of essays dealing with software project management.

I gave an overview of the first two chapters and related those concepts to experiences I have had on the job at Acxiom.

I really enjoyed preparing and presenting the material and I hope to have similar opportunities in the future.

Men's Fraternity 2 Graduation

I just graduated Men's Fraternity 2 ( MF2 ). Men's Fraternity is more than just a 16 week Bible study, it is an opportunity to be challenged to live as God would have you live. It is a higher calling. In particular the second Men's Fraternity focused on...

"...authentic masculinity in the workplace and on the homefront, Authentic Manhood at Work & Home equips men to walk in the reality of true manhood as they live their everyday lives."

Those who graduated the course completed and submitted "10 Key Moves". The moves consist of practical ways to implement the challenge of true manhood at work and at home.

I am proud to have graduated alongside BJ Arnold, John Crowley, and Jeff Hamm.
