Well, I am not over the hill yet, but I am getting closer to it. Today I turned 30 years old!
My parents bought me two authentic antiquities ( as seen in this picture ) from Israel while they were overseas.
The top piece is a pottery oil lamp from the Hellenistic period ( 330 - 63 B.C. ) and the bottom piece is a scarab seal from the 2nd Millennium B.C.
I was thinking I might get a replica of a scarab, but I had no idea that it would be authentic and the oil lamp was a total shock! These pieces are even more special after going to the From Abraham to Jesus museum the other day.
As I mentioned in a previous blog entry, my beautiful wife surprised me with 30 birthday gifts and I opened one each day until my birthday. What a wonderful surprise!
Happy Birthday, Elijah, and a Happy New year to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday Elijah, from the Gorhams! Jonathan is not too far behind you.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing presents...gifts in an archaeological family are definitely unique!
Happy Birthday, Elijah! Sorry it's a little late, but I hadn't checked your blog in over a week.
ReplyDeleteAt first I thought your parents were being a little mean in getting you an ancient bed pan since you're a year closer to being an old man, then I read that it was an oil lamp. I guess you can use that on your trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Heheh!! Happy birthday!
